Gonzaga knocks off UConn; Providence survives in OT against Boston College before 18,000 at TD Banknorth Garden

Each of the games was televised live by the ESPN Family of Networks. Gonzaga-UConn was shown to 94 millions homes on ESPN followed by Providence-Boston College being broadcast to 65 millions homes on ESPN Classic. Additionally, each game was broadcast nationally on the Basketball Hall of Fame Radio Network through Sirius Satellite Radio.


BOSTON, Mass., Dec. 1, 2007 – Over 18,000 fans were treated to two thrilling games at The Hartford Hall of Fame Showcase at the TD Banknorth Garden. Jeremy Pargo scored 23 points en route to MVP honors as the Gonzaga Bulldogs held off Connecticut 85-82. The win gave the Zags, ranked No. 19 in the country, their second consecutive in the event after beating Texas in 2006.

 

In the second game of the doubleheader, Providence survived in overtime behind 21 points from Weyinmi Efujuku to defeat Boston College 98-89. The Friars led by 24 points with 15 minutes to play in the second half before Boston College went on a 17-0 run to force overtime.
